Paint Can Flower Pot & The Wilds Things Costume

Today I got two d.i.y. projects for you chums.

First up, I’m all about promoting house plants and green thumbs (even though my current house plant is near death) and Design*Sponge had a cool idea for reusing your paint cans as customizable flower pots.

Women Are Heroes

WOMEN ARE HEROES by JR

I saw pictures of the Women project a while back on Wooster Collective and thought it was really cool without understand what JR and his team were trying to do. JR’s art is about giving respect and pride back to the millions of women who live in unforgiving environments, who are victims of violence.

Wal-Mart has been making positive headlines during the past year with their proposed “sustainability index” so today I thought I’d pull together some media and see what people are saying. Every time I go to Small Bar I’m always poking at their door tables (formerly a door, now a table). Today I was looking through old archives of Design*Sponge’s Before And After and found a good version of the same idea.

National Geographic’s Green Buying Guide

National Geographic Green Buying Guide | Ecofiend

I was hunting Arctic pictures for my post earlier this week at the National Geographic website when I discovered their Green Guide. It’s actually really nice: easy to navigate, information is clearly and simply communicated, very clean design. If you’ve ever been to Treehugger you can appreciate good information hierarchy. Don’t get me wrong, they have great content but I hate being on that site. Anyway, I definitely recommend looking into the Green Guide’s buying section; like the rest of the site it’s simple to follow and cuts through all the greenwash.
