Yuken Teruya is a master of the X-acto Knife! I was looking for DIY projects when I stumbled across this but I don’t think even i could pull off the intricate lines he’s carved out of these toilet rolls. They’re beautiful.
“Pizza Boxes, a McDonald’s bag, Flags, Desserts and Toilet Paper rolls… when these items become artworks, they also easily become political, maybe because they are taken from daily life. But if you find unexpected shapes and colors from the toilet rolls, they become something else. It’s not about politics anymore, and you can take out the idea of toilet paper roll to your house.”

A very early animated segment from Sesame Street Season One (1971-9172) by John and Faith Hubley from Storyboard Films. These seagulls just want to bring some attention to the burning question of pollution.
Raw Color is a collaboration by Christoph Brach and Daniera ter Haar studying the power of natural color and structure of vegetables.
“Vegetables are dismantled and purified to their visual essence ‘RAW COLOR’. The harvested color is captured by a new process preserving their intensity on color cards. Categorized by shades and families a new map is created which shows their beautiful diversity. This projects reinterprets the vegetable and puts it into new context.”
Reuse First is a small three-man operation consisting of Jeremiah, Michelle and Brad who make some amazing assortments of silk screened books and greeting cards out of reusing unused paper and paint that businesses throw out. I met Jeremiah at the 350 event just last month and he made me a little notebook which I’m almost done using. I’ll upload the scans in the next couple of weeks.

Acting as part installation piece and part product launch for Thomas Fiechtner’s new Linz Hocker stool, this recycled thermoplastic polymer piece is going to be stirring up crowds Austria. The Linz Hocker is being made by Austrian plastic bottle recycling company Haidlmair and being distributed by Vitra.
A stool is the most elemental piece of furniture. Its function has been obvious at all times and remained more or less the same over thousands of years. A stool may differ in shape and cultural origin but rarely in its function. A stool is the archetype of design. – Thomas Fiechtner
