Portland has started painting these green boxes to help raise driver awareness of bikers after some bad accidents. Chicago bike accidents are on the rise; we should think about doing this ourselves. Read more about it at Good.

Lars Holme Larsen of Kilo Design, Bjarke Ingels of BIG architects, and Jens Martin Skibsted of Skibsted Ideation have been designing some really nice bikes since forming their new collaborative partnership as KiBiSi. The Kilobike really stood out to me for very obvious reasons. It’s a children’s bike with adjustable frames that extend in four directions to keep up with those growing 6-12 year-olds.

Well, you can do what Eric did and scrounge up some baby trailer and hitch it your bike for your weekly groceries, or you can make your own (non-baby) trailer with this how-to from Instructables. I wonder how many poor folks Eric’s duped into think he’s got a kid on-board.

We haven’t done a funky-bike post in a while, so here it is: a mix between Darth Maul’s scooter in Episode 1 and a Segway. Check out more about the The Yike Bike at Core77.
Last week Core77 followed up on Oregon Manifest Constructor’s Design Challenge, which basically was an excuse for frame builders to gather in Portland and show off their custom commuter bikes. Core77 has the pictures.
